Our visit to Quynh Lap Leprosy Camp in Nghe An Province for gift distribution was truly an unforgettable experience. Alongside the charity activities, we had many delightful moments that made this journey special.
Our team had a busy schedule with preparations. We thoughtfully packed gifts and meticulously planned every detail of the trip, even rehearsing performances to bring joy and relaxation to the camp’s residents. Spending 5 hours rehearsing on the bus from morning till afternoon was worthwhile when we witnessed the smiles on the faces of the people at the camp.
During our visit while distributing gifts, we connected with the residents, listened to their stories and shared in their smiles, and optimism. It was a heartwarming experience, reminding us that in the face of life’s challenges, the spirit of resilience and solidarity shines brightly within each person.
Leprosy is known for affecting nerves as well as having neurological effects. The damage caused by the disease can interfere with the brain’s ability to process information leading to sensations and muscle control especially in areas like the hands, feet and face. In severe cases, it may create difficulties and impact communication making it harder for individuals with the disease to engage with others and enjoy a fulfilling life. This realization deepened our dedication to supporting and comforting the residents as we recognized the toll that the disease takes both physically and mentally.
This trip went beyond distributing gifts; it also served as a time for self reflection and gratitude. Witnessing the challenges faced by individuals living with leprosy reminded us of our obligation to extend a helping hand to those who are less fortunate particularly those who suffer from stigma and lack support, both materially and emotionally.
Witnessing the joy of patients receiving practical gifts served as a reminder of the significance of our efforts in raising funds and sustaining initiatives like this one to provide opportunities for those in need.
Once again we want to express our heartfelt thanks to the philanthropists, organizations and volunteers who supported us during this trip. Your kindness and generosity made this journey successful and filled with joy.
Stay updated on our upcoming activities! Once again, the Southeast Asia NeuroArts Foundation wants to extend its gratitude to everyone for being part of the memorable, and fulfilling experience during this trip.
